“There is a good deal of nutrition used in medicine.  Unfortunately, it is not identified as the frontline treatment, the way that Hippocrates and Maimonides thought of nutrition.  Within the last 30 or 40 years, with the advent of drugs, drugs have become the frontline treatment of illness in general and mental illness in particular. With the development of orthomolecular psychiatry, this picture will change. Nutrient therapy has distinct advantages. It is less expensive as, nutrients are not patentable. They are less expensive than drugs. Certainly they are safer. They are safer, because they are natural substances which are normally present in the body. Our bodies have evolved over millions of years with nutrients. Nutrients are absolutely necessary to life. I think nutrient therapy is more effective, because it is getting at the cause of the problem.”
